Cancellation Protection Scheme

Dorset Holiday Cottages Limited is pleased to offer a Cancellation Protection Scheme for our clients.

The cost of participating in the scheme is £5 per head of all those on the Booking Form, including children and babies, to be added to the Deposit (First) payment in the space indicated on the form. All Rents paid (excluding the Booking Fee and amount paid for the Cancellation Protection Scheme) will be refunded in the event of cancellation due to:

  1. Death, serious illness or injury (certified in all cases by a medical practitioner), summons for jury service or witness call of the signatory, or any member of the party listed on the Booking Form at the time of booking.
  2. Death, serious illness or injury (certified in all cases by a medical practitioner) of the spouse/partner, parent, step-parent, parent-in-law, brother, sister, child or close business associate of the signatory or any member of the party at the time of booking.
  3. Redundancy of the signatory or spouse providing that they qualify for payment under the Employment Rights Act 1996 as amended.
  4. The home of the signatory being rendered uninhabitable because of fire, storm, flood, subsidence or malicious damage.

The Scheme does not cover:

  1. Illness not sufficiently serious to prevent the person taking the holiday, or illness known at the time of booking.
  2. Cancellations arising from pregnancy and death, injury or illness resulting from Venereal Disease, AIDS or any AIDS related condition or epidemic/pandemic as declared by Deprartment of Health, DEFRA or WHO.

The Scheme is not available to

  1. Parties of people all of whom are over 75 years's old at the time of booking.
  2. Entire parties of overseas residents.
  3. The Booking that has a total rental value in excess of £2,000.

The Scheme is subject to the War exclusion clause.

All cancellations must be notified in writing to Dorset Holiday Cottages Limited within seven days of the event causing the cancellation (or within 24 hours if notified during the final two weeks prior to the holiday date). This notification must be followed by the evidence/certification as required above.

Provided that the terms of the Scheme are met in full, all previous rent payments will be refunded excluding the Booking Fee and the cost of the Cancellation Protection Scheme. Coverage commences on the date of booking confirmation and terminates on the day the holiday begins.

This Scheme only covers full cancellation. It does not cover a partial refund. Should cancellation be for reasons not covered by the Scheme, the booking is forfeit and our usual terms apply. i.e. If cancellation is within 8 weeks of the holiday commencing, Dorset Holiday Cottages Limited will attempt to relet the property and, if successful, refund the rent paid less £60.00 Administration Fee, Booking Fee and
